Hanwha wraps up its first spring camp in Melbourne, Australia

Hanwha concluded its first spring camp after a training session at Ball Park in Melbourne, Australia on the 19th.

In the beginning of the camp, the team focused on physical and technical training, and then two practice matches followed. Against the Australian national team, the team won both games on Thursday (2-1) and Saturday (5-3), winning two consecutive games.

The Hanwha team, which will board the flight to Incheon on Friday after taking a break, will immediately move to Okinawa, Japan, where the second camp is held. The second camp will begin on Friday, focusing on actual games.

At the second camp, a total of five practice games will be held against the Hanshin Tigers of the Japanese pro baseball league (on March 25), the Samsung Lions (on March 26), the KT Wiz (on March 3), and the Lotte Giants (on March 2). After returning to Korea on March 4, the team will prepare for an exhibition game.

Coach Choi Won-ho said, “The players faithfully carried out the first camp in a good climate and a low time difference environment,” adding, “I was a little worried because the opening of this year was early, but I was able to finish the first camp well because the players each adjusted their conditions well accordingly.”

“The goal of the first camp was to build a body that could play the actual game based on team tactics and multi-position adaptation, but the players raised their pace better than expected,” he said. “From the second camp to the exhibition game, we want to raise our condition to the best in time for the opening, and prepare for positional competition through actual games and various variables that may occur in a long season.”
