The grand opening celebration showcased CDI’s successful “Rosie’s Gives Back” program with a $25,000 donation to five local charities: Emporia/Greenville’s Family YMCA, Community Youth Center, Emporia Greenville Recreation Association, Schools, and H.E.A.R Me Out Inc.
Bill Carstanjen, CEO of CDI, said, “This celebrates our seventh Rosie’s gaming fortune and adds to our tremendous success in Virginia, taking us to the southern border for the first time.” “Emphoria’s position is based on the CDI’s commitment to deliver quality entertainment while providing the best jobs and generating significant tax revenue across the Commonwealth.”
Roses in Emporia will create more than 100 full-time and part-time jobs, generating approximately $1 million in annual tax revenue for the city of Emporia. Since the opening of the first Roses five years ago, more than $400 million has been invested in Roses Downs and Colonial Downs across the Commonwealth of Virginia, creating more than 1,200 new jobs and contributing $54 million annually to state and local tax revenues.
