“I will win the championship and go to my family

Wonju DB Promi won 107-103 in the sixth round home game against Suwon KT Sonic Boom in 2023-2024 professional basketball held at Wonju Gymnasium on the 14th, confirming the regular league title regardless of the results of the remaining games.

It’s been six years since the 2017-2018 season, and it’s the fourth wire-to-wire win of all time that has never been dropped from the top spot this season. And it was Ethan Albano who made an indispensable contribution on the way to the championship.

Albano, who joined DB as its first Asian quarter player last season, has been upgraded this season and built an ace line with Didric Lawson. DB’s triple post system was also able to operate flexibly as Albano served as a field commander.

“I’m so happy, and I want to give credit to my team members,” Albano said, adding, “I’m so happy, and I want to give credit to them. Lawson’s performance was great today, and Yoo Hyun-joon and Seo Min-soo also played their part when I was not in good condition. I’m grateful that my team members did a great job, and I’m thrilled.”

“I think Windy waited too long for the championship, so I’m even more thrilled,” he said, not forgetting the constant support of his fans.

Even as he entered the court on the day, he felt rather empty. His wife, who had been with him all season long, went to the U.S. for the birth of their second daughter. Now, he has to spend the rest of the season without a family.

“That’s why I didn’t do well today,” Albano said. “I miss my family members who always supported me and helped me. I think my family will love today’s victory. My family will wait for me with my daughter, who will be born soon, so I want to win the unified title and go back,” he said, expressing his sincere goal.

Lastly, regarding the MVP of the regular league, he said, “I’m grateful just to be mentioned as a candidate, but of course, I’ll be grateful to receive it because I’m a player. However, I want to give a lot of credit to my team members and staff for winning this championship.”
