K League’s Incheon to temporarily close off supporter section after bottle-throwing incident

In light of a bottle-throwing incident by their fans, Incheon United announced Tuesday they will close off their supporter section for their next two home matches.The K League 1 club made the decision after dozens of their fans hurled water bottles onto the pitch in the immediate aftermath of Incheon’s 2-1 loss to FC Seoul on Saturday at Incheon Football Stadium, just west of the capital city. FC Seoul captain Ki Sung-yueng was struck by one bottle, even as players from both clubs tried to get angry fans to stop.Tempers flared throughout the physical match between the rival clubs, with Incheon’s Gerso Fernandes getting sent off late in the first half for a hard foul on FC Seoul’s Choi Jun late in the first half.After issuing an apology right away, Incheon United decided Tuesday to block off some 5,000 seats of their home supporter section for matches against Gwangju FC on May 25 and against Ulsan HD FC on May 29.The club added that they will carry out more strict security checks at the stadium and ban all banners or flags that have not been previously registered with the club.

All beverages in plastic bottles will only be permitted into the stadium without their caps. Stadium concession stands will sell beverages without caps, the club added. In addition, Incheon United said they will accept emails from fans who would like to report themselves to the club after throwing bottles last weekend. The deadline is 11:59 p.m. Sunday.Those who turn themselves in may face a ban from Incheon matches, though the club will not press any criminal charges.According to an Incheon official, about 80 bottles were thrown onto the field, and some 60 fans had admitted to their wrongdoing as of 11 a.m. Tuesday.Incheon United said they plan to press charges against fans who are caught after the deadline for self-report and will seek compensation for financial losses that the club will suffer due to such fans’ action.Incheon United’s official fan club also apologized for the incident and said they will fully cooperate with the team moving forward.The Korea Professional Football League is expected to open disciplinary proceedings on Incheon later this 슬롯놀이터 week
