Choi is a “long-lived” coach who took the helm in April 2015 and led the team for nine seasons.
“I would like to thank Coach Choi for his efforts and dedication to the team as a player and a coach,” he said. “We will do our best to set the stage for another leap forward until the end so that we can meet the expectations of fans who love Hyundai Capital.”
Choi, who was a setter with Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, moved to Hyundai Capital in 2010 and immediately took the helm after the end of the 2014-15 season without serving as a coach. He led the team to win the regular league and championship game twice, respectively, by banking on “speed volleyball.”
In recent years, the team ranked sixth in the 2020-21 season and the lowest in the 2021-22 season while undergoing a generational change, but made it to the championship game last season. Ahead of this season, the team aimed to win the regular season title, saying, “The generational change is over,” but it was pushed to the bottom of the list amid an unexpected slump from the beginning of the season. Hyundai Capital ranks sixth in the league with four wins and 13 losses (16 points).
Hyundai Capital appointed senior coach Jin Soon-ki as its acting coach. The timing of appointing a new coach is not yet known. 안전놀이터
