‘The Garden’ At Wells Fargo Championship, Honours Fourth Win

Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) once again won the Wells Fargo Championship of the PGA Tour, proving his strength in the tournament once again.

On the last day of the tournament held at the Quail Holo Club in Charlotte, North Carolina on the 13th (Korea time), McIlroy, ranked second in the world, made two eagles, five birdies, one bogey and one double bogey, marking a spectacular finale with a 6-under 65.

With this victory, McIlroy recorded a total of 17-under 267 strokes, beating world No. 4 Xander Schopley of the U.S. by five strokes and earning $3.6 million (about 4.94 billion won) in prize money.

It was McIlroy’s fourth win in the tournament, following 2010, 2015 and 2021, and the moment to break the record for most wins ever at Wells Fargo. The win also gave McIlroy his 26th career PGA Tour victory.

Korean players also showed stellar performance in the competition. Starting from a tie for sixth, Ahn made two bogeys including seven birdies, finishing the competition in third place (9-under 275) overall. McIlroy expressed his gratitude after the tournament, saying, “I was very lucky to win this tournament four times, and I owe it to my fans’ enthusiastic support.” In addition, he expressed confidence that he “has more confidence in his swing than ever before” ahead of his upcoming PGA Championship appearance at a major tournament.
