Napoli shocked by Kim Min-jae departure, change manager again ‘for second time this season’

Napoli is in shambles after the departure of Kim Minjae (28). It was the second managerial change this season.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis (75) said on the club’s official website and social media accounts on Tuesday (June 20), “I would like to thank coach Valtere Marchischi (63) for his support in a difficult moment for the team. He will always remain in the hearts of the people of Napoli and the club,” he said, adding, “We welcome back Francesco Calzona (56), who worked with Maurizio Sarri (66, Lazio) and Luciano Spalletti (65, Italy national team) during their coaching careers.”

Napoli began the 2023-2024 season under Rudi Garcia (61). However, Garcia was sacked after just five months in charge due to poor results. Former coach Antonio Conte (54) turned down the Napoli job. In 2019, Machari, who led Napoli from 2013 to 2013, came in as a fireman. However, he left the club after just three months. This is the second Napoli managerial dismissal this season.

Napoli are currently ninth in Serie A with 10 wins, six draws, eight losses, and 36 points from 24 games. They are 27 points behind leader Inter Milan (63 points from 24 games). They have qualified for the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League (UCL). Napoli will face FC Barcelona (Spain) at home in the first leg on April 22nd.

It’s an unconventional decision. Napoli fired their coach just two days before the Champions League tournament. Machari, who has a long history on the Italian stage, couldn’t save Napoli from the crisis. In fact, the club’s performance plummeted further. In 12 Serie A games with Napoli, Mazzarri won four, drew three, and lost five. That’s 1.25 points per game. In the Champions League, they won one and drew one, and were eliminated from the Coppa Italia with a 0-1 loss to Inter Milan.

They’re beyond recovery. Napoli have only one win in their last five games. Their last two games have also been lethargic. A 0-1 loss to AC Milan was followed by a 1-1 draw with mid-table Genoa. The defense is particularly bad. This season, Napoli have conceded 28 goals in 24 games. Last season, they conceded 28 goals in 38 games.

Since the departure of Kim Min-jae and Spalletti, Napoli has faltered greatly. It”s a far cry from last season. In the 2022-2023 season, Napoli dominated the Italian Serie A from the start. They didn”t relinquish the top spot until the end. Napoli made history by winning the Scudetto (Italian Serie A title) for the first time in 33 years.

In just his first season in the big leagues, Kim Min-jae has become one of the best defenders in Europe. He was recognized by Italy, a country that is particularly 토토 picky when it comes to evaluating defenders. He was recognized as the best defensive player in the country. Afterward, Kim left for the prestigious German club Bayern Munich.

The Italian Footballers’ Association (AIC) also praised him. Kim had already moved to Munich. The AIC released the best 11 of the 2022-2023 Serie A season on its official website. Kim made the list as a central defender, which reminded us of his performances in Italy. In 35 Serie A games, Kim scored two goals and provided two assists.

In Munich, Kim Min-Jae is also a regular center back. He has been the backup to Matthias der Licht (24) and Dayo Upamecano (26) when they were sidelined with injuries. However, the Bavarians are facing their first ‘no-trophy’ season in 12 years. Rival Bayer Leverkusen are eight points ahead of the Bavarians after a 22-match unbeaten run. The job of Thomas Tuchel, 51, is also in jeopardy. Rumors of his dismissal have been circulating, and former AS Roma coach Jose Mourinho (62) has been touted as the next coach.

Once the sackings are out of the way, Napoli’s immediate focus is on preparing for the Champions League. They will host Barcelona in the first leg of the round of 16 on Nov. 22, followed by the second leg at home on Nov. 13.
