Mourinho to accelerate PL return?…”West Ham want Mourinho as next manager”

Could Jose Mourinho (61) return to the Premier League?

“Jose Mourinho is being touted as the next manager of West Ham United,” the English publication Team Talk reported on Dec. 13 (KST).

Moyes took charge of the Hammers the day after his successor Manuel Pellegrini was sacked in December 2019 for poor performance.

He took over the reins during the 2019-2020 season and has steadily led the team through the 2023-2024 season. In 2022-2023, he won the UEFA Europa Conference and brought the team a rare trophy.

However, criticism has been steadily mounting against him. A lackluster performance and a patchy win-loss record.

“Moyes was heavily criticized after the defeat (0-2) against Bayer 04 Leverkusen and now Jose Mourinho is being touted as his successor,” Team Talk reports.

“Moyes achieved legendary status at West Ham after guiding the club to the Champions League last season. It was the Hammers’ first major trophy in nearly 42 years. The Hammers will be hoping to make another appearance in Europe next season. The fans are looking at Moyes with suspicion.”

“Moyes’ contract at West Ham expires this summer. The fans feel it is the right time to bring in a new manager who can get the best out of the squad. Julen Lopetegui and Graham Potter have been touted as possible successors. However, in the last 24 hours, rumors have emerged that Mourinho is heading to West Ham.”

Mourinho has been on a break since being sacked by AS Roma in January. He recently expressed his desire to return to coaching.

According to reports, Mourinho said: “I’m ready to start again, sometimes after a job at a club you think you need to rest, to reflect, but this time I’m ready to start again, the 먹튀검증 day after my dismissal. I’m strong, I feel good. I love my work. I’m really ready,” he said, adding that he didn’t need a break.

Team Talk also reported the opinion of former West Ham striker Frank McAvenney. He told Football Insider: “If Moyes wants to stay at West Ham, we will talk about extending his contract. I’m a fan of Mourinho. I don’t care what anyone says. He knows how to win tournaments and bring trophies,” he said.

“I want to see Mourinho at the helm of West Ham. He is often criticized for his negative games, but he plays defensively solid football. That’s for sure,” he added.
