
KEPCO, which has been embroiled in sale speculation, failed in its quest for its first win.
KEPCO lost the match against OK Financial Group in three sets (25-16, 20-25, 17-25, 16-25) at Sangryoksu Gymnasium in Ansan on Tuesday.
It was KEPCO’s second straight loss. OK Financial Group celebrated its home opener in front of a full house with a victory, especially since the team had organized various events to celebrate its 10th anniversary.
Ahead of today’s game, there was talk of KEPCO selling the team. KEPCO, which is in a financial crisis due to huge debts, included the sale of the volleyball team in its self-rescue plan submitted to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE).
KEPCO came into the match with a clean slate, but crumbled after the first set. In the first set, KEPCO cruised to a 25-16 victory. However, in the second set, they were overwhelmed by OK Financial Group, led by Leo, Chae Hwan, and Bayarsaihan. Aside from the 20-point second set, the third and fourth sets didn’t even reach the 20-point mark.
KEPCO was led by Taith’s 23 points (55.56% attack percentage), Seo Jae-duk’s 17 points (42.86%) and Lim Sung-jin’s 11 points (39.29% attack percentage), but it wasn’t enough to save the day.
OK Financial Group was led by Leo with 25 points (52.63% attack rate), Chae Hwan 12 points (56.25%), Bayarsaihan 스포츠토토 12 points (44.44%), and Song Heechae 10 points (52.63% attack rate).
Meanwhile, the match between GS Caltex and Jung Kwanjang at Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul saw GS Caltex win 3-0 (25-21,, 25-22, 25-17). GS Caltex was led by Silva with 30 points. Kwanjang was led by Mega’s 21 points.
