The South Korean women’s soccer team, led by head coach Colleen Bell, will play the “world’s strongest team” in an away friendly against the United States.
The Korea Football Association announced on June 6 that it has agreed with the U.S. Soccer Federation to play two away friendlies against the U.S. national team in June.

The friendlies will be played during the FIFA A-Match window.

The United States is the reigning Women’s World Cup champions, having won the tournament four times.
Last year’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand ended in the round of 16, but they are still ranked No. 2 in the FIFA rankings.
The match will mark the debut of Emma Hayes, who was named head coach of the U.S. team ahead of the Paris Olympics.
Hayes is a former priesthood coach who spent eight years with South Korean women’s soccer great Ji So-yeon and Chelsea Women of the English Women’s Super League (WSL).
The women’s national soccer team has been traveling to the United States every other year since 2013 and has yet to win a friendly match against the U.S., with four draws and 11 losses in 15 matches.
In their most recent encounter, in October 2021, the team played well in a 0-0 draw in the first leg, but were thrashed 0-6 in the second leg.
