’12 goals in 12 games’ Isaac topples Tottenham, beats Son Heung-min

“I just hope I can stay healthy and keep running.”

It’s a scary upswing. A frightening run of goals, especially at home.

Newcastle United cruised to a 4-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the 33rd round of the 2023-2024 Premier League season away from home at St. James’ Park in Newcastle, England, on Wednesday (Jan. 13).

Alexander Isaac’s multi-goal performance was the difference in the win. Anthony Gordon opened the scoring in the 30th minute when he won a contested pass on the counter-attack after beating a defender, and Ishak beat a defender in the center of the penalty area to finish with his right foot.

Isaac didn’t stop there, though, as he added an insurance goal six minutes into the second half. In the Newcastle midfield, Son Heung-min lost the ball to Bruno Guimarães, who played a long ball into the back of the Newcastle box, where Isaac latched onto the ball and finished with a right-footed shot from the left side of the goal area.

Isaac has now scored in six consecutive Premier League home games and has now scored in his last 12 home games.

In total, he has scored 17 goals in the Premier League this season. He is now tied for third in the Premier League scoring charts, ahead of Son Heung-min (15). Three goals separate him from first-place Elling Holland.

Isaac was humble. “The Golden Boot (top scorer) is not on my mind,” he said after the game. I struggled a little bit with injuries during the season, so I’m just thinking about staying healthy and continuing to play,” he said. “The coach’s game plan and the way he set up the team was great. The players executed his game plan well,” he said.

The Swede is a talented attacker who is considered the next in line to succeed senior Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He has quick feet for a player of his size (192 centimeters). His finishing ability is based on a powerful and composed shot. He has been labeled the next Ibrahimovic since his youth.

Isaac joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad (Spain) last summer. The transfer fee alone was a whopping €70 million. It was the most expensive transfer in Newcastle’s history.

The club was bought by the Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund in 2021. With a lot of capital at their disposal, Newcastle made some big transfers.

Worth the money. He was Newcastle’s signature striker. Last season, he reached double figures with 10 goals.

This season, he”s been even more consistent with 17 goals in 24 Premier League games. His form has been particularly strong in the second half of the season.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe believes that Isaac is irreplaceable. “He”s a really good talent,” Howe said. Anyone connected to Newcastle would not want to lose him,” Howe said.

However, with Newcastle under Financial Fair Play (FFP) pressure, the likelihood of Isaac leaving is high. It’s not as if Newcastle is a wealthy club. FFP rules, which 안전놀이터 emphasize the importance of balancing spending and income, mean that the club can’t just buy willy-nilly in the transfer market. After being acquired by Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, Newcastle’s financial metrics naturally suffered as they spent big on players.

Isaac has weighed in on the possibility of a move, saying in a recent interview that “anything can happen”. Tottenham are the favorites. Spurs need someone to fill the void left by Harry Kane. This season, they’ve gotten by with Son Heung-min’s positional changes and the goal-scoring prowess of Heurelisbon, but they need a striker who can score a lot of goals in the long run.

Tottenham and Arsenal are not alone in the race to sign Isaac. According to Football Insider, “Arsenal will compete with Tottenham. Both teams need a striker,” according to Football Insider.
