Son Ho-young is just getting started in baseball

His streak of consecutive games with a hit may be over, but Son Ho-young (30-Rhode) is just getting started in baseball.

There was a time when he was thrilled to wear a Chicago Cubs uniform. There was a time when he was happy to be a professional baseball player again after serving in the military and playing in independent leagues.

Now, he’s nearly 30 years old. “Last year, I thought a lot about quitting baseball,” Son confessed.

“I thought, ‘OK, I’m just this good. I was prepared. I thought, ‘OK, I’m just the kind of player I am.’ I was ready for it. 안전놀이터 I’m at an age where (the club) can ask me to leave at any time, so I thought, ‘Let’s just enjoy it.’ That’s why I was more eager to move to Lotte.”

That’s not to say he didn’t have issues with LG Twins manager Yoon Kyung-yup.

There just wasn’t room for Son in the Twins’ deep infield. Injuries hampered him whenever he was ready to make the leap to the starting lineup.

“It’s a life-changing opportunity for him,” manager Yoon Kyung-yup said shortly after the trade for Woo Kang-hoon. He continued, “I check Son’s performance every day. I don’t want him to feel sorry for me,” and continued to pay attention to him. “When I greeted her at LG Electronics, she said, ‘Oh, Son Ju-jeon.’ I felt proud,” Son Ho-young said. It was a proud feeling,” he laughs.

“In a way, he let me go, and I’m grateful for that. I respect him a lot. I never had a hard time because of him, not because I was bad at baseball. He has a lot of heart.”

As soon as he changed uniforms, his potential exploded. Although he has yet to play a full regular season at-bat, he leads the team in home runs (eight, to Reyes’ seven), OPS (.904, to Reyes’ .903) and RBIs (36, to Reyes’ 61). He also has a 3-for-2 on-base percentage.

“I like Busan,” Son said. I like the Lotte uniform. 토토사이트 순위 It’s a good fit with Lotte,” he said. LOTTE manager Kim Tae-hyung also praised him, saying, “He’s our center fielder right now.”

Son’s record-breaking streak came to an unfortunate halt at 30 games.

From April 17 against LG Electronics in Busan to June 20 against KT Wiz in Suwon. Tied with Kim Jae-hwan (Doosan, 2018) for third place in the KBO’s all-time list. He is one game shy of Lotte Daesebae’s Park Jung-tae (31 games), who is second all-time and first in a single season.

“The record didn’t affect me too much. But I was in a hurry in my last at-bat. I hit the ball too hard. I thought I could save myself if I ran fast, so I threw myself at it, but it didn’t work. I think that was it. The coach reviewed it on video. I was grateful. In the top of the ninth inning, I saw Dawson catch Seung-min Ko’s pitch, and I was like, ‘Oh, it’s over.

They’re happy to have made history. “It was a lot of fun, and if I get another chance like this, I’ll be even more greedy,” said Son, adding, “I watched all the cheers for (Park) Jung-tae. There are many players younger than me in our team, so one of them will do it one day,” he emphasized.

“I left all my past regrets at the hotel yesterday,” he said, laughing softly.

Although he is confident that he has no fitness issues, Kim Tae-hyung is worried that his batting pace will slow down or that his hamstring will give him trouble again. This is his first time playing a full season. Son Ho-young said, “I apologize for hitting the designated hitter. I’m really fine…I’ll try to play defense as soon as possible,” he vowed.

His goal is still to play 100 games. He has no ambition for double-digit home runs. “I’d like to see the All-Star Game because it’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing,” he smiled.

“I’ve heard a lot of people say, 슬롯사이트 순위 ‘You’re an example, you’re an inspiration.’ I hope the players who are struggling right now can look at me and think, ‘Someday it will be good for me. I’ll keep working harder.”
