Bayern Munich key player Jozua Kimmich is attracting interest from big European clubs, including Premier League giants.
“Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in signing Kimmich, who has one year left on his current contract with Bayern Munich,” British media outlet Sky Sports reported on Thursday (June 24).
Kimmich, a member of the German national soccer team, began playing for Munich in 2015. Initially playing as a right-back, the German international has since excelled in the central midfield position before moving to defensive midfield and then moving between midfield and right-back.
With his high football intelligence, quick thinking, and wide vision, Kimmich was able to orchestrate the game from the center of the park and cover the defense. A longtime member of the Munich core, he was named to the club’s captaincy squad for the 2022-23 season.
With 42 goals and 104 assists in 390 appearances over the past nine years, Kimmich is one of the club’s most recognized legends, but his arrival on the transfer list this summer has increased the likelihood of him parting ways with the club.
Florian Plettenberg, who works for Germany’s Sky Sports and is well versed in Munich’s inner circle, recently said: “What was long inconceivable has now become a concrete possibility. Kimmich could leave Munich this year or next,” said Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports in Germany.
“The talks between Kimmich and Munich about his future will start after the UEFA European Football Championship (Euro 2024), but an extension to his contract, which expires in 2025, is not a possibility at the moment.”
Kimmich’s proximity to the end of his contract is thought to be one of the reasons he could leave this summer. Kimmich’s contract with Munich expires in June 2025.
If Kimmich didn’t want to extend his contract, Munich seriously considered releasing him after a year to prevent him from becoming a free agent without receiving a transfer fee.
The high salary Kimmich is earning also played a role in Munich’s decision not to hold onto him. According to sports economics website 먹튀검증 Capology, Kimmich’s salary at Munich is €19.5 million, one of the highest in the team.
With so much time left on his contract and such a high salary, Munich decided to listen to offers for Kimmich this summer. Coincidentally, Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in signing Kimmich.
“Jozua Kimmich is still in contention for a move to the Premier League this summer, with Arsenal and Liverpool understood to be interested,” Sky Sports, citing the Daily Mirror, explained.
“However, Manchester United will not intervene in the situation unless Kimmich’s position changes,” the report added, claiming that the Red Devils have not yet shown much interest in signing him.
“The Premier League’s top three teams, including Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City, are all considering Bayern Munich star Kimmich,” according to England’s Football 365.
“Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is a big fan of Kimmich, having played with him during his time in Munich,” the publication said, “while Mikel Arteta believes he is the final piece of the puzzle to complete Arsenal’s midfield, with Liverpool also keen to swoop.”
“With clubs already lined up outside of Munich, it’s likely that Kimmich will get his way,” he said, adding that all of Europe’s big clubs are chasing him, with 사설 토토사이트 Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) also facing all three Premier League clubs.
However, it is not impossible that Kimmich will stay at Munich for one more season and become a free agent in the summer of 2025 to join a team of his choice.
“According to our information, Munich are likely to sell Kimmich this summer as he could still fetch a transfer fee,” Plettenberg said.
“Kimmich could get used to the idea of leaving,” he added, “but he is entering the final year of his contract and should have no problem playing the new season under Kompany,” suggesting that Kimmich could stay at Munich until next season, when he is contractually tied to the club.
