KBO asked the Major League Secretariat to post Lee Jung-hoo to 30 major league clubs at the request of the Kiwoom Heroes on the 24th of last month.
Accordingly, 30 major league teams can negotiate contracts with Lee Jung-hoo from 8 a.m. (U.S. Eastern Time) to 5 p.m. on the 30th day after the Major League Baseball secretariat announces the posting, and if a contract is signed, the transfer fee under the Korea-U.S. player contract agreement must be paid to Kiwoom Heroes.
If the contract is not reached by the expiration date of the negotiations, the posting will be terminated, and Lee Jung-hoo cannot be posted until November 1 of next year.
“Lee Jung-hoo is the best hitter in Korea who has never missed a batting average of .300 since his professional debut in 2017, and represented WBC Korea in March,” Full Count said. “The San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, and New York Yankees are showing interest in Lee Jung-hoo.” He added, “The New York Mets are also showing great interest in Lee Jung-hoo according to Bob Nightingale of the U.S. media USA Today.”
Lee Jung-hoo recorded a batting average of 340,000 (1181 hits in 3,476 at-bats) 65 home runs, 515 RBIs, 581 RBIs, and 69 steals in 884 games in the KBO League. Last year, he won his first MVP in his career by achieving a career-high season with a batting average of 349 (193 hits in 553 at-bats) with 23 home runs, 113 RBIs, 85 runs, and five steals. In the aftermath of this season’s ankle injury, he played 86 games with a batting average of 318 (105 hits in 330 at-bats) with six home runs, 45 RBIs, 50 runs, and six steals.
“Full Count” reported, “Lee Jung-hoo has Scott Boras as his agent as the best hitter with 1,181 hits and a batting average of 340,000 over seven years in the KBO League.”
