Busan KCC has won two straight games in the best-of-five playoffs (PO) to secure a 100 percent chance of advancing to the best-of-four PO.
KCC defeated Seoul SK 99-72 on Saturday at Jamsil Student Gymnasium in Songpa-gu, Seoul, in the second game of the best-of-five best-of-seven 2023-2024 Korean Basketball Association (KBA) best-of-six PO (best-of-three).
After an 81-63, 18-point win over No. 4 SK (31-23) in the first round, No. 5 KCC (30-24) seized Game 2 토토사이트 순위 to put itself in a very favorable position to advance to the best-of-four PO.
In the KBL‘s six best-of-seven POs, the team that swept Game 1 and Game 2 has a 100% (23 of 23) chance of advancing to the best-of-four PO. Last season’s championship runner-up SK, on the other hand, has lost two straight games and is in danger of calling it quits on spring basketball prematurely.
KCC, being the ‘super team’ that they are, bombarded SK with their national team lineup of Heo Woong, Choi Jun-yong, Song Kyo-chang, Ra Gun-ah, and Lee Seung-hyun.
KCC showed off their shooting prowess in the first quarter, with Ra Gun-ah hitting three three-pointers. The team missed a couple of fast breaks from SK’s Oh Jae-hyun early in the game, but gradually shut down SK’s offense and went into the second quarter with a 21-19 lead.
In the second quarter, both KCC and SK stepped up their game. KCC extended their lead to eight points with less than four minutes left in the quarter by forcing SK into a team foul.
The team fouled out, allowing KCC to catch up on back-to-back floaters from Warney and a three-pointer from Kim Sun-hyung. Heo Woong answered with a three-pointer of his own to regain the lead, and KCC ended the half with a 46-44 lead.
The third quarter continued the trend of KCC pulling away and SK chasing them down as neither team was able to get on a solid scoring streak.
After a fast break led by Kim Sun-hyung, Oh Jae-hyun, and Warney’s layup, SK cut the deficit to one point, but KCC went into the fourth quarter with a 67-64 lead after back-to-back baskets by Kelvin Jeffrey Epistola just before the end of the quarter.
KCC exploded in the fourth quarter. A corner three-pointer by Jung Chang-young, a free throw by Epistola, and a mid-range jumper by Choi Jun-yong followed.
KCC made it a 20-point game, 86-66, with 5:39 to play, thanks to two three-pointers from Heo Woong and a three-point play from Song Kyo-chang.
SK was shut out in the fourth quarter, allowing KCC to score 32 points and never get closer than eight points.
KCC was led by Laguna with 23 points and Huong with 17 points. SK was led by Warney with 18 points and Oh Jae-hyun with 14 points.
